The Ancient Shrine is an abandoned Maerum temple grotto near their Third City. The entrance to the cave is obscured by tall seaweed, which April must move to gain access. The temple lies in darkness until April reactivates the lighting by repositioning the crystals she finds in the vicinity of the shrine on the altar.
Once lit, she discovers a series of murals that depict the history of the Maerum from the time they were brought to this world by the Old God, and their common heritage with the Alatien. There is also a prophecy predicting the reunification of the two races.
There is also a small niche covered with a symbol of the Balance and, after opening the niche with the Talisman of the Balance, April discovers the Maerum Stone's piece of the Stone Disk. In opening the shrine and showing it to the Maerum Queen, April proves herself to be the Waterstiller.
