The island Of Hainan has declared strict neutrality and is a military free zone, defended by only a small but capable militia. This is backed by a white Oriental dragon named Bai Zhenzhu as she was later identified. All of the surrounding countries have respected the declaration of neutrality.{{src}} p.28

Hainan's main business it as a tourist getaway although it's open door policy of allowing everyone irrespective of race or ethnicity is free to enter and leave as they wish. Relaxed government involvement, strategic location and the free flow of people have turned Hainan into a major international espionage nexus although there is a gentlemans agreement for groups not to mess with each other on the island so as to not annoy the Bai Zhenzhu.{{src}} p.29

Are we going to include Guam? I could be wrong, but I thought I remembered reading somewhere that the US retreated from all of its overseas bases and was limited to North America in the Shadowrun world? Since they pulled out of places line Europe, Guantanamo Bay and Puerto Rico I'd have thought they would have pulled back from Guam as well. Plus there's all that shadowtalk which I thought we were trying to avoid. /

Sorry, when this project was proposed I was thinking along the lines of 1st ed Seattle Sourcebook.

If you can find a full reference (BBB, heck even a noval where's is a tossed away line) I'/ll change things around and make it an indy nation.

When this project was originally proposed, non-canon submissions were going to be accepted as possible alternatives to the official sources. Right now, this is somewhat problematic, as the official source versions have not really been written yet. At the moment, we have two major submissions, Guam and Portland, plus a bunch of nearly empty entries that Wordman more or less inferred based on a (then) total lack of canon. They should not be treated as canon. Feel free to copy a blank Guam into the Guam page, with a link to Guam (submitted). However, major changes to Guam (submitted) probably should not be done. Guam (submitted) is to be treated as unofficial material, because it is. I've been thinking about changing the (submitted) references to (unofficial) references, but lots of work, not much time.

One of the goals of this project is for people to be able to take their favorite location that has not been well covered by canon, and write their own stuff. Guam and Portland are currently the best examples of this, and was submitted before we had any real templates.--UserMshieh 1323, 18 Oct 2004 (Eastern Daylight Time)

I have never seen this. As far as I know, SWW was and is mainly only for pseudo in-character, canon, information —UserJérémie Bouillon 1850, 7 February 2007 (EST)

Okay, well since we finally have some information on the place courtesy of Shadows of Asia I'm going to start cleaning up the links and the non-canon information from the page. -UserFlak
