'''''Thinking with Time Machine''''' is a ''Portal 2'' modification that introduces new time-based mechanics in addition to the standard Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device|Portal Gun. It was released on April 18th, 2014 after being Greenlit in March of the same year.

==Overview==
''Thinking with Time Machine'' continues the story of ''Portal 2'' with once again Chell as the protagonist. After an unexpected and somewhat confusing twist, which involves a crow breaking the illusion of an open world by flying into a giant screen, Chell finds herself back within the Aperture Science facility. Soon, she acquires a new PDA with the ability to record and playback a series of actions as a means of solving test chambers.

After the tutorial level, the player comes across an unsolvable test chamber. Interacting with a Aperture Science Switch|switch results in a gramophone falling out of a Aperture Science Vital Apparatus Vent|Vital Apparatus Vent, followed by the Borealis (Aperture Science ship)|Borealis crashing through a wall. Shortly after, Chell enters the Central AI Chamber, discovering that GLaDOS was shut down by Atlas and P-Body. The player is then challenged to complete nine test chambers that utilize the mechanics of recording and playing back a copy of himself or herself to repeat actions and complex sequences. The story ends with Chell going back in time to a point not long before the end of ''Portal 2'', and meeting up with GLaDOS.

Test chambers in ''Thinking with Time Machine'' are kept in a futuristic, ''WikipediaTron Legacy|Tron''-like style. The modification features new animations of dispensing various cubes, and an anti-gravity system, used occasionally during the puzzle sequences.
