Bill had previously worked at WikipediaStarwave Corporation|Starwave and WikipediaMicrosoft Corporation|Microsoft Corporation in various positions, before forming his media and design company SoundVision in 1997. During this time, Bill joined Valve as a producer to help ship ''Half-Life'' in February 1998. He enjoyed working on the game and his co-workers so much that he signed on with the company.
