==Background==
Joshua Lee Holloway, (born July 20, 1969), in wikipediaSan Jose, California, California is an American actor and former model. His family moved to wikipediaGeorgia when he was a baby, and he grew up in wikipediaFree Home, Georgia, Georgia (to this day, he still considers himself a "Blue Ridge Mountain boy"). He had a successful career as a model until he got bitten by the acting bug and relocated to wikipediaLos Angeles, California. He had minor acting parts in shows such as wikipediaWalker Texas Ranger|''Walker Texas Ranger'', wikipediaAngel (TV series)|''Angel'' and wikipediaCSI Crime Scene Investigation|''CSI'', and co-starred with wikipediaNastassja Kinski and Jeff Fahey in the B-movie thriller http//www.imdb.com/title/tt0276868/ Cold Heart, in which he played the role of a married woman's lover/stalker.

However, times were tough, and competition fierce for good roles. He was in serious need of acting work just prior to ''Lost''. He relates the timing of his casting as a fortuitous windfall for him, because it came just when he was about to give up on acting. He had been waiting to get a secure job before proposing to his then-girlfriend Yessica Kumala, to whom he finally proposed on the set of the {{ep}}, and married on Kauai in October, 2004. (''Finding Lost The Unofficial Guide'').
