Beginning with the launch airdate of Season 4 of ''Lost'', ABC has broadcast "enhanced" versions of episodes.
The enhancement features pop-up captions of text, in some cases accompanied by still images of the characters or objects, on the bottom of the screen. Longer explanations are broken down into smaller phrases, which roll over sequentially. {{I=Met-hodder.png=180=right=Marketing and production company http//metrotv.com/main.php Met was commissioned by ABC to create the enhanced episodes.}}The enhanced versions of the ''Lost'' episodes were created by http//metrotv.com/main.php Met, a marketing company commissioned by ABC who have also produced all of the ''Lost'' clip shows as well as the summaries Lost in 815 and Lost in 424. http//www.imdb.com/company/co0047551 http//www.nytimes.com/2008/01/30/arts/television/30lost.html?_r=1&oref=slogin The enhanced episodes are also made available via streaming from ABC.com's full episode viewer, in addition to the original and un-enhanced versions. http//dynamic.abc.go.com/streaming/landing

Due to the WGA strike, producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse had no involvement in the production of the enhanced version of {{ep}}. http//www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?p=1726729, 2008, the producers stated, "The enhanced episode is sort of like a Cliff Notes for the shows."http//www.docarzt.com/lost-spoilers/lost-417-teleconference-full-a.php In the Official Lost Podcast/March 19, 2009, 2009 podcast, the producers clarified that the Enhanced episodes are non-canon and that they don't have time to regulate them.

The enhanced episodes are a strategy by ABC to encourage the recruitment of new viewers to ''Lost'', especially during the sparse broadcast lineup in the aftermath of the WGA strike.http//www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/01/30/AR2008013003477.html The enhancement of episodes is reminiscent of VH1's "Pop-up Video", which provided commentary on music videos during the 1990s. http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop-up_Video

The shows have yet to be broadcast outside Canada and the USA, but was shown in the UK on May 3rd and 4th 2008 as part of the "Lost Weekend" which also featured the premiere of {{ep}}. On September 15, 2008, http//g4tv.com G4 channel began broadcasting enhanced versions of all episodes, starting with {{Ep}} {{source needed}}. It is unknown who is producing them. For more information see the Lost 2.0.0 article.

These enhanced episodes are not part of ABC Enhanced TV, which provides Internet-interactivity during viewing.

This is so far the only enhanced episode to feature pop-up still image headshots. It was airdates on January 30, 2008, the day before {{ep}} premiered to prepare viewers for Season 4. In conjunction with the enhanced version of {{ep}}, the clip show Lost Past, Present and Future was also produced and broadcast to prepare viewers for the premiere of Season 4, and incidentally is the only clip-show to be available for streaming download at ABC.com. These two broadcasts represented three hours of the relatively large investment of four hours of prime time devoted by ABC to ''Lost'', prepping audiences for the hour-long Season 4 premiere {{ep}}. The investment paid off with a strong ratings audience of 16.1 million viewers, higher than the previous broadcasts of Season 3 in May 2007, which had garnered 14 million viewers. http//web.archive.org/20080706194334/www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/ratings/e3ia68feb4e2d5900e47c15c857a8015761 http//tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,272,00.html ===Selected captions=== The following captions may reveal new information *It's unclear what the article says / but a popular theory / is that it's about a man from New York / who was found dead in Los Angeles. *And based on the iteration count in the tower / the survivors have been on the island / for 91 days.
