Alarm

File:Alarm.jpg|thumb|366px
'''Alarms''' are a technology featured in all Deus Ex (series)|Deus Ex games. They can affect entire buildings and complexes in many ways, but they all involve a switch or button placed on a wall in a high-security location, with guards nearby. When pressed, alarms will sound a loud noise throughout the area, alerting people and free roaming Bots to their location. Alarms will also activate turrets and any bots hidden behind doors. Nearby armed guards will run for alarms when they see the player, or hear something suspicious such as a gunshot or explosion. Unarmed bystanders will run for alarms when they hear a strange noise, or witness the player attacking someone the bystander is sympathetic to. Depending on the circumstances, guards may run for alarms if they see the player breaking and entering a building or hacking an electronic device. Getting caught by a Security camera|Security Camera for long enough or tripping a Laser Tripwire|Tripwire will also automatically sound alarms. After the player hacks the main terminal at the Hong Kong MJ12 Pacific Rim Labs|MJ12 Labs, even if they are not seen by anything, an alarm will automatically sound, and all personnel will know to attack the player.

In Deus Ex (series)|Deus Ex, alarm panels can be bypassed using multitools. If a guard attempts to use the bypassed panel, no alarm will sound. Alarm panels can also be permanently destroyed with powerful attacks, typically explosions, in the same way one would destroy a camera or a turret. Destroying or bypassing an alarm panel while the alarm is still sounding will stop the alarm.

In Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Adam Jensen|Jensen can hack alarm panels to disable them (and obtain typical hacking rewards), so that they can no longer be used to sound the alarm. Guards will still attempt to use disabled panels, but nothing will happen when they do.

There is also an achievement/trophy for not causing a single alarm.

==Pre-order mission==
What about the special pre-order mission? Where does that go?

:What about it? No one knows anything about it yet. If its mentioned in the page, theres really nothing else I know of to add. Please tell me if theres anytihng I dont know. User:Dorgles|Dorgles 00:22, April 30, 2011 (UTC)

:: The Bonus mission comes directly after "Find Vasili Sevchenko's GPL Device" and is hard (impossible?) to miss: Tong asks you to rescue his son before telling you how to find the other researchers. Special:Contributions/194.95.197.20|194.95.197.20 05:44, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

:::What's the name of this quest as it is written in-game? User:Sporran|Sporran 17:26, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

==Format==
Please organize and format this page. There are many completely optional, easily missable side quests in this game. Many of the side quests have multiple branching paths and possible conclusions. Please provide them, as well as alternate methods for completing the missions, on each page if not already present.

==Quests==
I already know of at least one quest I have missed and is not on this page: the mission you receive from the Hive bartender regarding the Belltower communications towers.

Players with lots of time on their hands can conduct some helpful research as to the availability and time progression of missions - for example, are there new side quests available in Detroit after returning from Highland Park? The eventual possible outcomes of all the characters involved such as O'Malley, Alexander, and Haas should also be provided.

== Nex/Previous options on quest pages ==
Is it possible to implement some sort of next/previous quest links on the bottom of the page? Like having the back arrow on the left with the previous quest, and the forward arrow with the next quest name. Because so far, the quest pages aren't even categorized with the walkthrough, just as main/side quests. User:-S-|-S- 17:05, September 3, 2011 (UTC)
:This should be done for the majority of pages. User:Sporran|Sporran 17:26, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

==M- and S- numbers==
S numbers are assigned as you get the mission, they are not fixed. M numbers are also technically not fixed but for the majority of people they will be one of two options. Cashing in Old Favors was given the designation M1 for me, can anyone else confirm? User:Sporran|Sporran 17:29, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

:They are randomized, same with sidequests. Usually I get the visiting LIMB clinic at M5, and investigating terrorist as M6. User:-S-|-S- 17:34, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

::Not completely random, they are assigned in the order you accept them. M5/M6 LIMB clinic difference makes sense because those two are given simultaneously but only one of them can be "first". Cashing in Old Favors is definitely M1 for me and the next two or three follow on i.e. M2 for Find Vasili Sevchenko's GPL Device. I just checked my savegames, do you have a different number in yours? It does not seem to be done by location - my Hengsha (part 1) missions went M1, M2, then back to M1, M2. It didn't go M1, M2, M3, M4. User:Sporran|Sporran 17:46, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

'Becoming more invisible'? Could you please clarify the meaning behind this phrase. Thank you.

== Adding anchors ==

Since this is a very long article I wanted to start adding anchors for all of the augmentations so they can be more easily referenced from other pages. While each heading automatically gets an associated anchor, new ones can be created for each individual upgrade by going into the source view and wrapping the target in a div tag.

I've done this for the Augmentations (DX3) Arms Prosthesis|Cybernetic Arms Prosthesis section since I had an immediate need for the Augmentations (DX3) Through Wall link, but I'd suggest we do it for the others as well.

--User:Baggend|Baggend 17:29, September 5, 2011 (UTC)

==length==
This article has grown to an enormous size, if anyone has ideas on how to condense some of the sections, please do so; the TOC now includes upgrades for quick navigation, but that's not really a full-on solution. User:Philanthr0py|Philanthr0py 20:08, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

: How about we reduce to content to an overview of useful information, and move in-game descriptions to their page where each augmentation with multiple levels should be grouped. This is page that lists all possiblities and such '''should''' be used as an overview. There is almost nothing here that would help me pre-plan my next playthrough and the length is an issue. I only need to know name, preqs., praxis cost and (summerized) effect.

: Additionally, having the augmentation tree as an image for each section would I imagine to be helpful. User:Jeahra|Jeahra 20:33, September 21, 2011 (UTC)
