Michael - the dark warrior of Section One.
" Michael is a very strong character. He is very dangerous and very smart."
Roy Dupuis, Maclean’s (Canada’s Weekly Newsmagazine) April 28, 1997
Promoted early, he is a consummate Section One operative. An extensive journey into his psyche would require exceeding the maximum allowance of baggage. With Michael and those inside and outside Section One providing us with truth, half-truth and non-truth, we take an alternate approach to the dossier.

MICHAEL AND LIFE
BEFORE SECTION ONE
Michael (Michel) was a member of L'Heure Sanguine/The Bloody Hour, a French group of radical activists formed in 1984 with Rene Dian and other fellow students at Paris University. The group organized and took part in demonstrations, made speeches, made bombs. After a bombing causing deaths, everyone escaped arrest except for Michael. He "died in prison" and entered the Section.
"I don’t even remember how it started. I was angry at everything, the world around me. When I met Rene everything he said seemed so true. " Michael
MICHAEL AND NIKITA
" Sometimes I think you are the enemy. " Nikita
" I could grow to love you but I could also live without you. I’m not sure if he can. "
Jurgen, speaking with Nikita
" Out of sync? He’s out of control. That stunt he pulled in Liberia could of gotten everyone killed. Now he’s beating up on recruits. " Operations
MICHAEL, SECTION ONE
After being trained by Jurgen, Michael moved up the levels of Section One quickly, becoming Team Leader and trainer. And The One Who Crushes Out Feelings. Michael is an excellent operative because he does what it takes to survive. He wants to live. But he’s also effective because he’s not afraid to die. As though he doesn’t feel he deserves to live.
" I’ve never been able to figure you out. " Nikita
" You of all people should know the dangers of emotional involvement with colleagues. "
" I’m not saying Michael did anything but if he did I’ll bet it was for your own good. "
Walter, speaking with Nikita
" There’s been entirely too much externalizing of emotion lately. " Madeline
" Michael seemed like a god. Not afraid of anything.
He knew me better than I knew myself. "
MOMENTS AND CHIT CHAT

There’s nothing we can do. Focus! / … Just do the job. /

MICHAEL, ADVICE AND COMMANDS
Don’t die on me. / Duck. / Let me give you one piece of advice, Mister. Don’t ever get married. / Behave yourself. / We’ll take separate entrances. You go in from the northeast. /
It’s best to be ruthless but if you’re not it’s essential to appear that way.
MICHAEL AND INSIGHT ON SECTION ONE
I do what I have to do. We all do… / There’s a reason for everything we do. / No one from the outside can understand who we are. / You still believe in free will. In here there’s no such thing. / Mistakes are not an option. / No matter what state of mind you’re in you have to be able to perform. / If it wasn’t for the Section none of us would have a life. What right do I have to feel cheated?
MICHAEL, PHILOSOPHY AND
WORDS OF WISDOM
A sixth of something is a lot better than a third of nothing… / I don’t let personal considerations interfere with my work. / You’ve been in the Section long enough. You should know better. /
It’s not important what you did. It’s what you do. Now. / I wish things could be different. /
I don’t believe in intuition. / …Learn to fly. Take up painting again. And never be with a man who fails to treat you as you deserve.
Sometimes all we have is our dreams. / Be patient. / There’s always bad guys… / We were young. Everything seemed good then. / I’m glad she lived.

I wanted to make sure you’re okay. Call me if you need anything. / Let me help you. /
I’ll see that you’re set up. I’ll help you. / I’m sorry it had to come to that.
I’ll be gone soon. You can’t be disappointed. This hasn’t exactly been convenient for you.
